A Spicejet Boeing B737-800 aircraft will have TATA Hexa – the latest vehicle from Tata Motors being advertised on its fuselage. Pictures of this aircraft started circulating on social media early this week. VT-SLL was inducted by the airline in July 2016. The aircraft was operated by Brazilian carrier GOL since 2007. The 10-year-old aircraft has been leased from BBAM.

Readers may remember the advertising which Air Deccan had on the exterior of its Airbus A320 aircraft. Back in 2006-7 the airline had generated revenue from diverse set of companies which included State Bank of India, Sun microsystems, NDTV, ICICI Bank, Idea Cellular and Chevrolet.
In 2012, Jet Airways had partnered with Disney and had one B737-800 aircraft with decals of Disney characters. The same year, Van Heusen from the stable of Aditya Birla retail tied up with Jet Airways to launch X-Lifestyle brand in India. The Jet Airways hanger in Mumbai was used for a fashion show and a media event. The airline extensively used videos of the “making” of the aircraft for branding and marketing purposes.
Last year AirAsia India advertised “Kabali” movie of super star Rajinikanth on one of its aircraft.
Spicejet had unveiled its special livery “With all Our Heart” on its aircraft registered VT-SZK in June 2014. The aircraft named “Red Chilli” was one of the last aircraft it took from Boeing before severe turbulence affected the airline.
Globally airlines have been using every inch of available space for advertising, which includes the boarding pass, seat covers, head rest, overhead cabin baggage area, tray tables and exterior of the aircraft. The internal advertisement is made up of vinyl stickers while decals are used for the external advertisement.
