IndiGo hosted the IATA AGM in Delhi this June and coinciding with the event made some big bang announcements, one of which was regarding its expansion. The airline has announced that it would fly to Athens, Copenhagen, London, Siem Reap and four points in Central Asia. The airline recently announced that it will fly to London Heathrow and the final paperwork is underway. Today it has announced the launch of flights to Copenhagen which begin October 08, 2025. Flights will operate thrice a week at below timings.
6E041 BOM0435 – 1005CPH
6E042 CPH1230 – 0030(+1)BOM
Flights from Mumbai operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Copenhagen is an interesting choice and not part of the top markets in Europe from India, which revolves around London (where IndiGo will be operating), Frankfurt and Paris. Copenhagen is one of the points in Europe where Air India operates from its New Delhi hub with good loads going by the numbers posted by the regulator. However, good loads does not mean good yields and good yields may not translate to good profits.
Copenhagen airport is the hub of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) which recently made a shift from Star Alliance to SkyTeam. Copenhagen Airport is also the largest airport in Scandinavia.London, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Paris are the top 5 destinations from Copenhagen. The airport has three runways, and two terminals which are interconnected. Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark and also acts as a gateway to cities in nearby countries due to good road connectivity.
More power to Mumbai hub
The widebody foray with Norse Atlantic dreamliners was widely believed to be from New Delhi, its primary hub. The sequence of events, especially geopolitical, seems to have led to them shifting to Mumbai and with Copenhagen (and London), the airline will strengthen its Mumbai hub. It works well to counter Air India’s Delhi hub in a way but there seems to be more than what meets the eye.
What to expect in the flight?
IndiGo will deploy the Norse Atlantic 787-9 Dreamliner on this route which is configured in dual class. Norse Atlantic sells its front cabin as Premium Economy, while IndiGo sells the same as IndiGoStretch, the business class product.

Network Thoughts
IndiGo already serves Copenhagen with the Turkish Airlines codeshare and would have sufficient historic data to know (and judge) the traffic. Air France, Emirates, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa are some of the airlines which operate to Copenhagen and offer one-stop connectivity from India.
As IndiGo scales up its partnership with KLM, Air France, Virgin Atlantic and Delta, Scandinavian could be next in line for the partnership to parts of Europe. While currently IndiGo’s balance sheet supports such additions, in the longer term its flights will have to be viable to sustain its widebody foray in the longer term.
