Domestic departures of Spicejet and IndiGo to partially shift to T2 at Delhi from tomorrow

Low Cost carriers Spicejet and IndiGo will shift part of their operations to Terminal 2 at Delhi starting tomorrow. Sunday 25th March will mark the beginning of Northern Summer Schedule 2018 and after lengthy court battle by IndiGo culminating in the court order

The airport operator DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) had suggested that the three low cost carriers operating from T1 should shift 30% of their flights to T2 till the work for expansion of the terminal concludes. While Go Air moved all its flights to T2, IndiGo moved a petition in Delhi High court challenging the order. After successive appeals till Supreme Court, the airline could not get a judgement in its favor. Spicejet which could have helped resolve the impasse by shifting its flights to T2 had stated in court that they would not like IndiGo to have monopoly at T1.

IndiGo will shift flights to Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Raipur, Srinagar, Udaipur, Vadodara and Vizag to T2.

Spicejet will shift flights to Ahmedabad, Cochin, Goa, Gorakhpur, Patna, Pune and Surat to T2.

All Spicejet flights will have a prefix “8” for those which are departing from Terminal 2. IndiGo flights departing and arriving at T2 will have a flight number range of 2000 – 2999.

DIAL is expected to start the expansion work on the apron starting May 2018.

If you are a Spicejet or IndiGo passenger travelling on any of these sectors, you would have already got an email or a call. If you have booked your flight thru a travel agent, you should contact the agent and check.
