Flying in or out of Delhi from 18th till 26th, there could be delays

The New Delhi International Airport – the busiest in India, will see closure of complete operations for one hour and forty minutes each day on 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 26th of January. The closure is from 1035 hours to 1215 hours for the preparation and rehearsal for the country’s Republic Day Celebrations. India became a republic on 26th January 1950 and each year foreign dignitaries are invited to be part of the celebrations which involve showcasing the diverse culture of the country and the military might.

The closure will also affect over flights with restrictions on air space within a radius of 50NM around Delhi VOR for flights flying below 20000 ft (FL200).

Delhi is the only city in the country to operate two simultaneous runways for arrivals and departures. The country will see disruption of travel with closures coming up at other airports.
