German carrier Lufthansa today opened bookings for the Airbus A350 service on Munich – Mumbai – Munich sector. The route is currently served by A330-300 aircraft. Indian capital New Delhi was the first scheduled destination for the Lufthansa A350-900 and services started from 10th February 2017. Boston will be the second A350 destination from 14th March 2017. The upgrade will be effective 15th April for departure from Munich and 16th April for departure from Mumbai.
The A350 can provide 24 different light settings and claims to have one of the quietest cabins in the sky. Airbus continues with its seating philosophy with seat width of 18 inch as compared to a little over 17 inch for Boeing.
Lufthansa has configured the A350-900 with 293 seats comprising of 48 Business Class Seats, 21 Premium Economy and 224 Economy class seats. Economy class will see nine abreast seats different than the A330 and A340 the airline currently operates. The first A350-900 is named Nuremberg.
Airbus has over 800 A350 XWB (Extra Wide Body) aircraft on order and Qatar was the launch customer for the A350 and took delivery in December 2014. Currently 10 airlines operate the A350 across the world. Lufthansa has 25 A350-900 on order. Lufthansa serves 5 Indian cities from its Frankfurt hub and Mumbai and Delhi is additionally served from Munich.
