Jet Airways today opened reservations for its “Flight only” ticket fares. The date coincides with moving to digital redemption.
The airline was supposed to go live with this change starting 25th September but was delayed to 15th October 2018 with bookings opening today. Not many sectors have the Flight only tickets open for sale as yet. This comes on the backdrop of “Freedom Fares” launched by Vistara which were progressively offered starting 29th August 2018. Vistara which started by pricing the Lite fare INR 205 lower than its meal inclusive fare, has since increased the difference. While fares were not available on all routes, on certain routes the difference was INR 546.
Jet Airways Fare Choices – a term it introduced in 2016 to adjust the loyalty points one could earn and upgrade eligibility based on fare classes has been restructured to unbundle services. The “Light” & “Deal” categories in Economy for domestic flights will be flight only with meals being available for purchase on board. The passengers will continue to be offered beverage service.
The airline has gone live with JetBistro, its buy on board menu. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the airline will offer one set of menu and another set on the other three days of the week. The meals are priced at INR 200 and INR 300, which helps the crew with quick turnaround for the service. On ATR flights, only sandwiches will be available.
Starting today, the airline has also gone digital with vouchers. Physical upgrade vouchers will be digitised and directly credit to JetPrivilege account. The update will be seamless with JPMiles and Upgrade vouchers and so would be the transfer of vouchers.
