National Carrier Air India started accepting bookings for three additional frequencies to San Francisco. Air India’s Commercial Director Pankaj Srivastava had announced the increased of frequency from 6x weekly to 9x weekly at the CAPA summit in Mumbai on 30th January.
The new flights will operate as per below timings and are effective 25th March 2018 and will be operated by B777-200LR (B77L).
AI 183 DEL 1800 – 2030 SFO 2,6,7
AI 184 SFO 0100 – 0600 DEL 1,3,7
The airline started services to San Francisco in December 2015 with a 3x weekly service and has since increased it to 6x weekly in November 2016. In a much publicized news, Etihad had cut back frequencies to San Francisco within months of the Air India flight.
Air India has opted to increase frequency to San Francisco over Washington DC where it operates three times a week. This indicates the popularity of its services to San Francisco. he Air India B772LR comes in three class configuration comprising of 8 First Class Seats, 35 Business Class seats and 195 economy class seats. The airline currently has three B777-200LR in its fleet.
The airline which has started utilizing its newer A320neo aircraft for regional international services is likely to convert its flights in the SAARC region from the B787 Dreamliner services to A320neo and thus freeing up the Dreamliner for international services.
